The pop landscape was changing rapidly at this time with the advent of rock ’n’ roll and Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel  shaking up the charts. Rock acts like Elvis, Carl Perkins, Gene Vincent and Johnny Cash all had roots in country and made their initial impressions on the established order in the country market during this year. There were a number of new arrivals, like George Jones, Charlie Walker and Don Gibson, on the scene who embraced the smoother “new Nashville” sound around this time. Needless to say, it is a fascinating and entertaining musical snapshot of country music as the industry entered a dynamic new era.
