The early 50s was the heyday of pop performers whose style and image was ideally suited to the mood of the times and whose music epitomised the easy-going middle-of-the-road output of mainstream American radio stations in the years before rock n roll arrived to change the face of popular music in mid-decade. Teresa Brewer was one such performer, a bright, stylish and versatile singer who was an ideal vehicle for just about kind of song her record companies wanted her to record, from ballads to out-and-out novelty songs, enabling her to rack up nearly fifty hits in her decade-long chart career, including the memorable No. 1 hits Music! Music! Music! and Till I Waltz Again With You.
We have selected A & B sides of her singles during the era for the London and Coral labels, and naturally features her entries in the Billboard, Cash Box and UK charts from those years, including the hits Ricochet, Jilted, Let Me Go, Lover, A Tear Fell and A Sweet Old Fashioned Girl and her duet hit with Don Cornell. Its a worthy showcase for an artist who provided many nostalgic memories for those who enjoyed her records during those years.
