Nate Turner, a gifted bass player and soulful singer, was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1937 and later became an integral part of the Chicago blues scene after relocating there in 1965. Immersing himself in the city’s rich musical culture, he worked alongside notable figures such as Johnny Christian and Jimmy Dawkins, honing a style that blended deep Southern roots with the unmistakable edge of Chicago blues. This CD, recorded in Chicago in 1992, captures Turner in excellent company, joined by a lineup of outstanding musicians including Lurrie Bell, James Bell, Eddie Lust, and Steve Bell. Together, they deliver a session that feels both authentic and vibrant, full of groove, grit, and expressive playing—one listen is all it takes to experience the sound of 100% Chicago Blues at its finest.
