Les Paul is a name rightly revered and worshipped throughout the rock world for his invention of the solid body electric guitar put out by Gibson and for his revolutionary recording techniques. He pioneered and developed multitrack recording by experimenting and pushing the boundaries of technology throughout the early part of his career.
Aside from his inventive genius, he was a highly proficient and innovative guitarist himself with a background in jazz. His work with his wife, Mary Ford, an established country singer in her own right, allowed Paul to utilise his radical new techniques in the studio to score a multitude of hit records throughout the fifties.
This collection brings together the pair’s greatest recordings during the height of their career together. It showcases Paul’s innovative studio skills featuring multi-tracking, delays and echoes and provides a great introduction to a remarkable body of work. It is a fitting showcase for the pair’s tremendous talents.
