Side One is all original compositions by Ian Hendrickson-Smith, starting with the title track.
This is a funky bluesy offering lead by Hendrickson-Smith’s alto sax in a mellow, bubbling style.
Side Two is all covers, including Nancy (With The Laughing Face), I Should Care and Billie Holiday’s Don’t Explain.
Throughout, his big, open, bluesy sound is reminiscent of alto masters Cannonball Adderley and Jackie McLean.
This is a soulful and blues drenched outing - a complete joy - or, as one reviewer on Amazon puts it: “The melodic and sometimes familiar songs linger long after they have finished playing. This album is a warm hug on a cold day!”
