A refined and introspective solo piano recording, Portraits finds Dario Carnovale exploring a series of deeply personal musical sketches, marked by clarity, lyricism, and expressive nuance. With the exception of two tracks featuring Luca Colussi on drums (1 and 9), the album centers on Carnovale’s articulate and sensitive pianism, unfolding with a strong sense of space and narrative. Recorded on March 29, 2013, at Artesuono Recording Studios in Cavalicco (Udine), Italy, the session benefits from the pristine sound captured, mixed, and mastered by Stefano Amerio. Carnovale performs on a Fazioli F278 grand piano, whose rich tonal character enhances the album’s intimate and detailed atmosphere.
