The Soul Factor is neither a nostalgic homage nor an exercise in stylistic imitation; it is a fearless reinvention of soul through the shared imagination of Cristina Zavalloni and Uri Caine. Drawing inspiration from the emotional directness and spiritual depth of the great soul tradition—while acknowledging the enduring influence of Aretha Franklin—the duo creates an entirely original musical landscape in which jazz, gospel, blues and contemporary song converge. Zavalloni's expressive, shape-shifting voice moves effortlessly from intimate confession to explosive declaration, while Caine's inventive keyboard writing provides an ever-changing canvas of harmonic colour and rhythmic surprise. Supported by an exceptional ensemble, these performances celebrate soul not as a fixed genre but as an attitude: fearless, searching, emotionally truthful and gloriously alive.
