Connie Francis was one of the iconic stars of the rock ‘n’ roll era, a wonderfully distinctive and versatile singer who could handle the gamut of repertoire from schmaltzy revivals of vaudeville classics through to the bounciest pop material that the Brill Building writers could supply her. Every single one of the 40 tracks on this 2-CD set was a chart entry in either the USA of the UK, and it features every Top 10 hit of her career on both sides of the Atlantic, including five landmark No. 1s, beginning of course with the memorable version of “Who’s Sorry Now”. Connie occupied a unique niche in the perceptions of pop fans of that era as a pure pop performer who retained a credibility and respect that ranked her alongside the great innovative rock ‘n’ roll names of the time, with an unmistakeable voice and style that transcended musical genres.
