With Summer Breeze, Chris Haywood brings a smooth, sophisticated jazz sensibility to a collection of songs designed to capture the warmth, romance and easy-going atmosphere of a perfect summer evening. Haywood’s relaxed approach allows each melody plenty of room to breathe, combining polished musicianship with a gentle, soulful feel that makes these recordings effortlessly enjoyable. The title track, originally written by James Seals and Dash Crofts, is given a fresh instrumental interpretation, while the album’s varied repertoire moves comfortably between familiar melodies and contemporary jazz textures. From the mellow groove of “Summer Breeze” to the more intimate moods of “Promise Me” and “You Are Everything”, Haywood creates music that never demands attention but richly rewards it. Released in 2018, this collection reflects the enduring appeal of smooth jazz: warm, melodic and accessible, with an emphasis on atmosphere as much as performance. Put simply, Summer Breeze is music for slowing down, taking a breath and letting the stresses of the day drift away.
