Jazz fusion artist Bob Holz is back with a power house live album featuring a star studded line-up of high profile players.
L!ve In New York & L.A. combines top flight instrumental and vocal performances as Holz covers some of the great, jazz classics combined with his own original compositions.
The players include saxophonist Brandon Fields, guitarists Chet Catallo and Mike Miller, bassists Ralphe Armstrong and Ric Fierabracci, keyboardist Billy Steinway, singer Ronnie Leigh, percussionists Joey De Leon Jr. and John Heard and keyboardist Tom Witkowski.
An alumni of Berklee College of Music, Bob majored in performance and composition with teachers Gary Chaffee and Joe Hunt.
He went on to study privately with Dave Weckl and Billy Cobham. In the past Holz has worked extensively with Larry Coryell, Darryl Jones, Mike Stern, Stanley Clarke, Randy Brecker, Chet Catallo, Dean Brown, Ric Fierabracci, Brandon Fields, Ada Rovatti, Billy Steinway, Steve Weingart, Jamie Glaser and Ralphe Armstrong.
Other albums recorded for MVD Audio include: A Vision Forward (2016) Visions And Friends (2017), Visions: Coast To Coast Connection (2018) and Silverthorne (2019).
Writing for Jazz Weekly, George W Harris, says: “Holz keeps the feel and sound organic with a pair of bands swinging in New York’s Funk’n Waffles and Los Angeles’ Groove Gallery.
“He mixes up jazz standards with some originals, keeping the songs between five-seven minutes, with no one overstaying their welcome in the front line, emphasising style and soul.
“All that’s missing here is a two drink minimum and background chatter. WHEW!”
Holz has established himself as a world class drummer and composer and now he unleashes the energy of his live performances on this incredible album.
